This article in the Daily Mash is obviously a joke although quite a thought provoking one. Only 36% of the population in the UK voted in the EU election. That means that the voice of only 36% of the people in the UK will be represented in the EU parliament; and the majority of that voice belongs to UKIP! If UKIP supporters care enough to go to the polling stations doesn't the act of not voting support this outcome? Now the results are in I bet people hope that two-thirds of the MEPs representing the UK in the EU parliament should be people who won't bother to vote at all. Sadly, that is not the case.
THAT not-voting thing has worked out brilliantly, Britain has told Russell Brand. 33-year old Wayne Hayes said: “I really stuck it to The Man by staying at home on Thursday, even if it does look an awful lot like The Man ended up succeeding beyond his wildest imaginings.” As two-thirds of the electorate decided not to bother in the European election, the UK will now be represented in Brussels by MEPs who won’t bother voting either.
