BBC Click recently did a brief feature on some robots that are being investigated for using in areas with a high risk for Ebola infection. It may sound good on face value to the casual listener, but there's a lot more to be considered. Decontamination procedures, culture norms, rural conditions, spare parts and maintenance personal are not trivial considerations.
Also, the robots will need to be decontaminated, and nobody is going to want to have to deal with some sort of special, gentle, robot-friendly decontamination procedure. Your robot had better be cool with getting doused in bleach.
